with George Kontrafouris on hammond, Konstantinos Stouraitis on guitar and Yannis Papadoulis on drums
George Kontrafouris was born in Athens in 1967. He has studied classical piano at the National Conservatory. At the age of 16 he started playing jazz and studied improvisation with Markos Alexiou. He also attended classes with Jim Beard and Jarmo Savolainen. He graduated from the Sibelius Academy in Finland with Bachelor and Master Degree in Jazz Performance. He teaches at the Ionian University in Corfu and the Sibelius Academy.
He has recorded several albums of his own and has collaborated with a lot of superb musicians from Europe and America (Arild Andersen, Markus Stockhausen, Andy Sheppard, David Liebman, Marc Johnson and more).
Baby Trio is his organ project with hammond, supplemented with musicians aged less than 25 years old. As he has said, this project was created to express the naivety, the teenage enthusiasm and what generally makes an impression on a young musician when he starts playing in a band with his friends … ultimately, it expresses all “non-realistic expectations” that exist before “normal life” takes on.
